The Xinjiang Oil and Gas Branch of the Western Pipeline Company of the National Pipeline Group will start using drones and unmanned vehicles to patrol oil and gas pipelines in the Yamdun operation area from 2024, achieving an integrated patrol mode of "air, sky, and ground". The Yamdun operation area is responsible for 891 kilometers of pipelines and related facilities. The drones will collect real-time footage to improve patrol efficiency and handle any abnormal situations promptly. The unmanned patrol vehicle is currently in the trial operation stage. The application of this technology not only improves patrol efficiency, but also provides patrol personnel with more time to enhance their professional skills.
