On May 20, 2025, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the Chairman of the Indonesian National Economic Commission, Lu Huat, in Beijing. Wang Yi emphasized that the current world is facing a resurgence of unilateralism, and trade bullying is harming the interests of all countries. Faced with various risks and challenges, China and Indonesia should adhere to their original intention of establishing diplomatic relations, uphold independence and autonomy, expand cooperation for mutual benefit, and uphold fairness and justice. China congratulates Indonesia on becoming a formal member of the BRICS, and is willing to work together with Indonesia to promote the spirit of Bandung that emphasizes unity and cooperation, maintain the hard-won peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, promote regional economic integration, resist unilateralism and anti-globalization impacts, and work together to build a common home in the Asia-Pacific region. By driving the development of a community of shared destiny between China and Indonesia, we aim to promote the construction of a community of shared destiny for humanity.
