The S&P 500 index closed roughly flat, with the energy sector down 1.5%, and the consumer discretionary, technology, and financial sectors down by at most 0.3%. The healthcare sector, on the other hand, rose by 0.9%. The Nasdaq 100 index closed roughly flat, with component stocks Grail, Arm Holdings, Atlassian, ON Semiconductor, Palantir, Tesla, Microchip Technology, AMD, and Charter Communications down by 4% to 2%, while AppLovin, Boqii, MSTR, and Gilead Sciences rose by at least 2%. The Dow closed up over a hundred points, with UnitedHealth Group up 8%, and Merck Pharmaceuticals and Johnson & Johnson up over 1%. However, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Apple, Arm Holdings, Chevron, and Nike were down by at least 1%. The biotechnology index rose by 1.1%, the U.S. technology stock giants index fell by 0.1%, and the "Trump Tariff Loser Index" fell by 0.3%.
