Rubio: If Russia-Ukraine negotiations do not progress, the United States will sanction Russia.
According to a report by the Russian news agency on May 18, US Secretary of State Pompeo said that the United States may impose new sanctions on Russia, and he has conveyed this to Russia. The support for the relevant bill submitted by US Senator Lindsey Graham to the US Congress is increasing. The report said that Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and Rubio had a telephone conversation on the 17th, where they discussed international issues. Rubio said in an interview with CBS, "For the past two months, we have repeatedly warned Russia that this would happen if no progress was made." He said that earlier, at the request of the US President Donald Trump's administration, US Congress had provided time for negotiations with Russia to resolve the Ukraine issue. Trump had previously stated that if the bill passes, he will sign it into law.
