Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah pledged to eradicate the armed militia groups within the country, which have become "stronger than the state" and control the political, financial, economic, and social landscape. Deadly clashes and anti-government protests have raised concerns about the escalation of conflict. Following the killing of a militia leader and the defeat of his group, 8 people have died and dozens have been injured in the past week. The United Nations Security Council expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in Tripoli, and the Libyan Prime Minister called on the people to support the government's efforts to establish a rule of law state and end militia rule.
