Edward Yau: Hong Kong's new stock fundraising amount has exceeded 60 billion, ranking first in the world.
According to the Zhitong Finance APP, on May 18th, Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan mentioned in his blog that since the beginning of this year, the Hong Kong stock market has been performing well. The Hang Seng Index closed at 23,345 points last Friday, with a cumulative increase of about 16%, outperforming other major markets. Trading volume in the market has also increased, with an average daily turnover of over 270 billion Hong Kong dollars in April, a 1.4-fold increase compared to the same period last year. The new stock market is also thriving. On May 13th, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange will welcome a highly anticipated mainland new energy leader's IPO, which is the largest new stock fundraising activity globally this year. This has contributed to Hong Kong's new stock fundraising total exceeding 60 billion Hong Kong dollars this year, more than 6 times higher than the same period last year, making it the largest fundraising scale in the world.
