The Guangxi Water Resources Department and the Guangxi Meteorological Bureau jointly issued a meteorological warning for flash floods on May 17 at 16:00. It is expected that from 20:00 on May 17 to 20:00 on May 18, there is a high possibility of flash floods in the northern part of Liuzhou City, the western part of Guilin City, and the eastern part of Hechi City. In addition, flash floods may occur in the central and western parts of Nanning City, the central and northern parts of Wuzhou City, the northwestern part of Baise City, and the central and western parts of Hezhou City. Please pay attention to monitoring, inspection, early warning, and evacuation for flash flood prevention in affected areas. The Wuzhou Meteorological Observatory issued a blue rainstorm warning at 12:00 on May 17, 2025. Due to the combined influence of a high-altitude trough, shear line, and weak cold air, from May 17 to 19, Wuzhou City will experience heavy rainfall accompanied by short-term thunderstorms and strong convective weather, with accumulated rainfall of 40-80 millimeters in most areas and over 100 millimeters in some areas. Considering the high risk of disasters caused by this heavy rainfall, small and medium-sized rivers in the rainstorm area may reach the alert water level and cause localized severe flooding. According to the relevant provisions of the Wuzhou City Emergency Response Plan for Floods and Waterlogging Disasters, the Wuzhou Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has decided to initiate a level four emergency response to flood and waterlogging disasters in Wuzhou City at 13:00 on May 17.
