Nissan Motor Co. is exploring the closure of its main vehicle factory, the Tsunamisawa plant in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, as well as its subsidiary Nissan Shatai's Shonan plant in Hiratsuka City which produces commercial vehicles. The company intends to adjust the excess production capacity due to poor sales to reduce costs and improve performance.
