In 2025, the Chinese film market started off with a hot trend, with many exciting films being released one after another. As of May 14th, the total box office of Chinese films in 2025 reached 26.649 billion yuan, an increase of 28.87% compared to the previous year, with domestic films contributing 25.534 billion yuan, an increase of 48.06% year-on-year, accounting for as high as 95.81%. This data far exceeds the 78.68% share of domestic film box office in 2024, indicating that the landscape of the Chinese film market is undergoing profound changes.
