The irrigation and replenishment scheduling of the Three Gorges Reservoir provides "thirst relief" for over 7 million mu of farmland.
From the Ministry of Water Resources of the Yangtze River Water Resources Commission, it was learned that the Three Gorges Reservoir has increased its discharge flow to around 12,000 cubic meters per second since the 15th and maintained it, effectively improving the irrigation conditions for the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Jianghan Plain. Due to the replenishment of water, the water levels in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in Shashi, Lianhuatang, and Hankou have risen by 2.0 meters, 1.0 meters, and 0.7 meters respectively, significantly improving the water intake conditions for major irrigation pumping stations along the river and lakes. According to statistics, increasing the replenishment of water has effectively improved irrigation conditions for more than 7 million hectares of farmland in Hubei and Hunan provinces.
