Local railway Nenhe line freight train derailed causing the death of one bystander, the driver and 3 others have been placed under criminal detention.

On May 16th, the National Railway Administration issued a public announcement on the investigation and handling of the "417" local railway Nenhe Line freight train derailment major railway accident. At 15:45 on April 17, 2025, freight train No. 30816 from Xinghuoxiang Station to Nenjiang Station derailed at 139 kilometers and 950 meters between Xinghuoxiang Station and Yiket Station on the Nenhe Line, with cars 1 to 27 derailing and causing the death of one person, constituting a major railway accident. After the accident, Heilongjiang Nenjiang Railway Company Limited immediately initiated an emergency response and conducted emergency disposal work. China Railway Harbin Group Co., Ltd immediately initiated an emergency response and participated in the accident emergency disposal work. Through rescue efforts, railway traffic on the Nenhe Line was restored at 10:58 on April 19. The accident resulted in one death and a direct economic loss of 7.16 million yuan. The driver Tong, the trainee driver Xu, and the station duty officer Li have been taken into custody by judicial authorities. The General Manager of Heilongjiang Provincial Railway Group Co., Ltd and 10 other personnel responsible for the accident were disciplined.
