BYD European Center established in Hungary.
BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu recently announced that BYD will establish its European headquarters in Hungary. The move is aimed at strengthening BYD's presence in the European market and improving service efficiency. It is reported that the BYD European Center will create 2000 jobs and have three functions: a hub for sales and after-sales service, testing facilities, and a base for developing localized versions of vehicles. Currently, BYD is already selling three pure electric models, the ATTO 3, Dolphin, and Sea Lion, in the Hungarian market, and has opened two channel stores in the capital city of Budapest. BYD had previously begun investing in building factories in Hungary. In 2016, BYD announced the establishment of its first factory in Europe in the northwestern city of Komarom, Hungary, for the production of electric buses, which started operation in 2017. In December 2024, BYD announced the construction of a new energy vehicle assembly plant in Szeged, Hungary, which will be built in stages and is expected to create thousands of jobs locally. The investment exceeds 1 billion euros and will become the first passenger car factory established in Europe by a Chinese automotive company.
