On May 12, a netizen from Xi'an posted a video claiming that at a restaurant in the Weiyang District, a server was seen taking skewers of meat that had fallen into a bucket of waste water and suspected of reselling them to customers. On May 16, the Xi'an Weiyang District Market Supervision Administration issued a statement regarding the incident: Recently, in response to netizens' reports of "food safety violations at Laoyi BBQ", our administration immediately organized law enforcement officers to conduct on-site investigations at the restaurant in question. The restaurant has been ordered to close for rectification. After investigation, it was found that the restaurant had violated relevant provisions of Article 34, paragraph 1 of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, and the violation was established. Our administration has issued an "Administrative Penalty Notice" to the parties involved. In accordance with relevant provisions of Article 124, paragraph 4 of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, a decision has been made to confiscate illegal gains and impose a fine on the parties involved. Next, our administration will carry out special rectification of meat product operations in the jurisdiction to fully safeguard food safety.
