The Ministry of Water Resources has initiated level IV emergency response for drought prevention in Gansu Province.
According to the Ministry of Water Resources, on the 15th, the Ministry of Water Resources held a consultation meeting to analyze and assess the situation of floods and droughts, and respond to Gansu Province's initiation of Level emergency response to drought. Due to the continuous lack of rainfall and upstream inflow, droughts have been developing in regions such as Wuwei, Baiyin, Dingxi, Pingliang, Qingyang, Lanzhou, and Gannan in Gansu Province. The Gansu Provincial Department of Water Resources initiated a Level emergency response to drought on May 13 for the cities of Wuwei, Baiyin, Dingxi, Pingliang, and Qingyang, guiding the drought-affected areas to strengthen irrigation management, scientifically arrange irrigation water allocation, explore the potential of water lifting and water diversion projects in irrigation areas, and ensure water supply for agricultural irrigation; organize investigations of risks related to people's drinking water safety, and implement emergency safeguard measures in advance.
