Minister of National Defense Dong Jun delivered a speech at the sixth United Nations Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping held in Berlin, Germany on the 14th. Dong Jun said that United Nations peacekeeping operations bring peace and hope to those suffering from conflict. China is firmly committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind, dedicating to the common security and welfare of all humanity, and has always been a strong supporter and constructive force for United Nations peacekeeping operations. Dong Jun stated that China supports the reform and transformation of United Nations peacekeeping and raised six proposals: first, to practice global security initiatives with all parties, advocating for solidarity and cooperation to address security issues; second, to steadfastly support the core status of the United Nations and its important role in world peace and security affairs; third, to increase investment in United Nations peacekeeping operations and call on countries to continue to firmly support them; fourth, to support the training of peacekeeping professionals, hold advanced strategic seminars and more training sessions to help countries enhance their operational capabilities; fifth, to adjust and optimize the deployment of peacekeeping standby forces in terms of troops and capabilities; and sixth, to promote continuous innovation in United Nations peacekeeping operations and integrate new technologies into them. During his visit and the conference, Dong Jun held meetings with the Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, and leaders of defense departments from France, Germany, Italy, Nepal, and other countries.
