U.S. Power Regulatory Agency: Tens of millions of Americans will face electricity shortage risks this summer.
Wisdom Financial APP learned that this summer, tens of millions of Americans in the Midwest and upper Western regions of the United States to the Gulf of Mexico coast are facing the biggest threat to the US power supply. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) stated in its annual summer assessment report that about 89 million Americans are using the three major power grid systems that span parts of the Midwest, which are currently classified as "high-risk areas" due to the closure of old power plants, potential forced outages, and high electricity demand that could lead to potential power shortages. NERC's Reliability Assessment Manager, Mark Olson, said, "As we enter the summer season, grid operators need to be prepared for the possibility of another tense situation."
