Multiple places experience temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, Mexico reports four cases of heat-related deaths.
On May 14th local time, the Mexican Ministry of Health reported that 24 out of 32 states in the country have experienced temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. As of May 9th, there have been 4 reported cases of heat-related deaths and 191 cases of heatstroke nationwide. The report also stated that during this high temperature season, a total of 191 cases of heatstroke, 131 cases of dehydration, and 13 cases of burns have been reported in 26 administrative regions nationwide. According to data from the National Meteorological Service under the National Water Commission of Mexico, states such as Sinaloa, Nayarit, and Jalisco will continue to experience heatwaves.
