The Baltic Dry Index for Bulk Freight continued to decline for the second consecutive day.
On Wednesday, the Baltic Dry Index fell for the second consecutive day due to weakening rates for Capesize and Panamax vessels. The Baltic Dry Index decreased by 13 points, or 1.02%, to 1267 points, hitting a new low since April 22. The Capesize vessel rate index dropped by 23 points, or 1.38%, to 1648 points. The average daily profit for Capesize vessels decreased by $189 to $13,670. The Panamax vessel rate index slipped by 21 points, or 1.6%, to 1295 points, also hitting a new low since April 22. The average daily profit for Panamax vessels decreased by $190 to $11,654. The Supramax vessel rate index remained unchanged at 977 points.
