Gansu initiates a level IV emergency response for drought prevention in 5 cities.

Reporters learned from the Department of Water Resources of Gansu Province that Gansu has activated Level IV emergency response to drought in Wuwei, Baiyin, Dingxi, Pingliang, and Qingyang. Since the beginning of spring, temperatures in Gansu Province have been higher than usual, with precipitation being 46.2% below normal. The number of drought-affected areas in the province has been increasing, exceeding the average of the past five years. Currently, most of the cultivated land in eastern Gansu is experiencing mild to severe drought, with areas such as the central part of Baiyin, the northeastern part of Dingxi, and the northern part of Qingyang experiencing moderate to severe drought.
