This year, BYD has replaced Toyota as the top-selling car brand in Singapore.

Official data shows that BYD, a Chinese car brand, has become the most popular car brand in Singapore so far this year, with sales surpassing Toyota for the first time. BYD is increasing efforts to boost overseas sales. In the first four months of 2025, BYD sold 3,002 cars, accounting for 20% of Singapore's total car sales. During the same period, Toyota and BYD's main competitor, Tesla, sold 2,050 and 535 electric cars respectively. Toyota had previously held the top spot in this affluent Asian financial center, selling 7,876 cars in 2024, while BYD sold 6,191 cars.
