Cross-strait civilian faith exchanges are obstructed. The Taiwan Affairs Office asks the Democratic Progressive Party three questions: Can you do something to win the hearts of the people?

Regarding the interference and obstruction of cross-strait folk belief exchanges by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, the spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Binhua, stated at a regular press conference today that cross-strait folk beliefs, especially the lively exchanges between temples such as General Xie, Mazu, and Guan Gong, have been welcomed by Taiwanese believers for years. The ancestral temple deities' visits to the island provide spiritual guidance and comfort to Taiwanese believers. I would like to ask, why does the DPP authorities repeatedly obstruct and restrict these longstanding exchanges and celebrations? Why do they easily label these matters that are close to the hearts of Taiwan's people as "united front" activities? Currently, Taiwan faces many structural challenges and prominent issues in its economy and livelihoods, as well as severe challenges from U.S. trade bullying. Can they do something that truly resonates with the hearts of the people?
