3M fined $450 million for settling with the state of New Jersey in "forever chemicals" pollution case.
The Attorney General of New Jersey announced on Tuesday that 3M has agreed to pay $450 million to settle a lawsuit over natural resource pollution caused by PFAS. PFAS are perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as "forever chemicals." 3M is expected to pay $285 million this year, with the remainder to be paid over the next 25 years.
