Ken Griffin, founder of the hedge fund Citadel Investments, said on Tuesday that Trump should give "long-term and serious" thought to his trade policy strategy. This is the third time in a week that Griffin has publicly criticized Trump's tariff policy. "Ultimately, any effort to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. will lead to inflation, there is no doubt about it," Griffin said in a podcast interview released on Tuesday. Griffin said, "I really believe that the President needs to give long-term and serious thought to protecting the standard of living of the American people." He added that Americans may not even want the job opportunities that could come from rebalancing the trade deficit: "I don't understand why we think bringing back low-skilled manufacturing jobs to the U.S. is a virtue. I don't think Americans want to go back to low-skilled, low-wage manufacturing jobs. I don't think they want those jobs."
