As the Huaihe River Basin is about to enter the flood season, preparations for flood control and drought resistance are in full swing. Yang Feng, the Executive Deputy Commander of the Huaihe River Flood Control Headquarters and Director of the Huaihe River Water Conservancy Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources, stated on the 13th that the Huaihe River Basin will further refine and implement various key flood control measures to ensure the safety of flood control and drought resistance. Since the beginning of this year, the precipitation in the Huaihe River Basin has been 20% below normal, the lowest since 2020. As of May 11th, some areas in the northwest and lower reaches of the basin are experiencing moderate or severe meteorological drought. The meteorological department predicts that during this year's flood season, the climate in the Huaihe River Basin will deviate from normal, with an increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events such as heavy rain.
