The Colombian government plans to join the "Belt and Road" Initiative for joint construction.

On May 12th, Colombian President Petro arrived in Beijing. On that day, Petro visited the Great Wall and expressed that Colombia plans to join the Belt and Road Initiative. President Petro of Colombia said: "We plan to join the Belt and Road Initiative. Now, the Belt and Road Initiative has extended to the world, and I believe it can promote the development of a new generation of industries. Latin America and Colombia are both free and independent, and our relationships with any country in the world, whether east, west, north, or south, must be based on freedom and equality. Therefore, we have decided to take an important step towards deepening cooperation between China and Latin America."
