Today, it was learned from China Petrochemical that a shale gas exploration well located in the Sichuan Basin has a depth exceeding 5300 meters, breaking the record for shale gas well depth in China and providing valuable experience for deep shale gas exploration in the country. The well that broke the depth record, Iron North 1 Side Horizontal Well in the Puguang Gas Field, has a daily natural gas production of 314,500 cubic meters. The Puguang area where the well is located is rich in shale gas resources, but most of the resources are distributed in the ultra-deep area with depths exceeding 4500 meters, making exploration and development more difficult (CCTV News).
