Today, it was learned from Sinopec that a shale gas exploration well located in the Sichuan Basin had a vertical depth exceeding 5300 meters, breaking the record for the deepest shale gas well in China and providing valuable experience for the exploration of ultra-deep shale gas in the country. The Iron North 1 horizontal well in the Puguang Gas Field, which set the depth record, produced a daily natural gas output of 314,500 cubic meters. The Puguang region where the well is located has abundant shale gas resources, but most of the resources are found in the ultra-deep area with burial depths exceeding 4500 meters, making exploration and development challenging.
