In Taiwan, nearly 10,000 people sought medical treatment for COVID-19 in a single week.

The COVID-19 epidemic on the island has been on the rise for 5 consecutive weeks. According to the Taiwan authorities' health department, last week, there were 9,978 emergency room visits for COVID-19 in Taiwan, a 66% increase from the previous week. There were also 34 new cases of severe illness and 6 new deaths reported.
