Taiwan's leading life insurance company, Cathay Life, reported a loss of NT$2.57 billion in April due to rising hedging costs.
Cathay Financial Holding announced unaudited financial data for April on Monday. Its largest life insurance company in Taiwan, Cathay Life, reported a net loss of NT$2.57 billion after taxes, mainly due to the more than 3% appreciation of the NT dollar in April, leading to higher hedging costs. The cumulative net profit after taxes for the first four months was NT$15.67 billion; April marked the first monthly loss since December 2024.
