The dam of the Yeba Tan Hydropower Station is the longest in the world, measuring 38.10 meters.
On 11th May, the dam of the highest-altitude double-curved arch dam hydropower station under construction in China, the Huadian Jinshang Yebatan Hydropower Station, successfully extracted a 38.10-meter long concrete core sample, breaking the domestic and foreign records for similar dam types. Through on-site observation, the extracted core sample showed a complete and smooth surface, dense texture, uniform aggregate distribution, and excellent interlayer bonding, successfully setting a new world record. This signifies that China's concrete dam construction technology for arch dams in high-altitude cold regions is at a world-leading level. The first batch of units at the Yebatan Hydropower Station is expected to start power generation by the end of 2025. Once fully operational, the power station will have an average annual electricity generation of 102.05 billion kilowatt-hours, saving 3.99 million tons of standard coal per year and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 7.37 million tons.
