Bulgarian President proposes holding a referendum on joining the Eurozone
Bulgarian President Radev stated on the 9th that he has proposed to the National Assembly to hold a referendum on whether the country should join the Eurozone in 2026. Radev said in his speech to the Bulgarian National Assembly that Bulgaria currently faces issues such as inflation, lack of trust in the government by the people, and the government's lack of specific actions to protect people's purchasing power and economic competitiveness. The Bulgarian society has not reached a consensus on the readiness for adopting the euro and the specific date. The introduction of the euro should be achieved under a convincing national consensus.
