The US Army has postponed until next year the decision on whether to approve full-scale production of Lockheed Martin's $2 billion air defense radar system. The system is seen as a candidate system for the "Aegis" defense umbrella proposed by the Trump administration. The US Army had previously stated that it planned to make a full-scale production decision on Lockheed's "Sentinel A4" radar in October, but the timetable has now been pushed back to between July and September 2026 for more rigorous combat testing. The significance of the delay is significant because the full-scale production phase is an important milestone for defense contractors and the most profitable phase of weapon programs.
