The Department of Commerce's General Administration of Market Development held a symposium on the trade-in of old electric bicycles for new ones.

In order to thoroughly implement the decision-making arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, implement the requirements of the old-for-new exchange of consumer goods and the comprehensive rectification of safety hazards in the entire chain of electric bicycles, and promote the speed and increase of the old-for-new exchange of electric bicycles, on May 8, 2025, the Department of Commerce Development of the Ministry of Commerce conducted a research on the old-for-new exchange of electric bicycles in Baoding City, Hebei Province, and organized a symposium. At the symposium, the Department of Commerce of Hebei Province, the People's Government of Baoding City, and others introduced their experiences and practices. Some provincial commerce authorities also spoke, and Comrade Li Jialu, Director of the Department of Commerce Development, delivered a speech. The meeting emphasized that local commerce authorities, under the guidance and support of the local special team for the comprehensive rectification of safety hazards in electric bicycles, should focus on optimizing processes to address bottlenecks, strengthening overall coordination, improving work guarantees, and preventing and resolving risks. This will ensure the successful implementation of the old-for-new exchange of electric bicycles, which is both beneficial in the short term and long term, ensuring safety, promoting consumption, benefiting both enterprises and people's livelihood.
