Nissan abandons plan to build $1.1 billion electric car battery factory in Japan
Nissan Motor said on May 9 that it will abandon its plan to build an $1.1 billion electric car battery factory in Kyushu, southwest Japan. Nissan stated that the company is taking action to turn its losses around and exploring all options to recover its performance. Nissan had previously announced in January this year that it planned to build a lithium iron phosphate battery factory in Kitakyushu City, investing 153.3 billion yen and creating around 500 jobs.
