The Ministry of Commerce responded to He Lifeng's visit to France for economic and trade talks and the investigation on brandy tariffs: holding an open attitude towards dialogue and negotiations.
A reporter asked, Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council He Lifeng will travel to France to participate in economic and trade negotiations. Considering that 99% of imported brandy comes from France, and China is still considering imposing import tariffs, what are China's expectations for this meeting? Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong said that, in response to applications from domestic industries, the Ministry of Commerce initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imported brandy from the European Union on January 5, 2024. Due to the complexity of the case, the investigation has been postponed until July 5, 2025. Currently, the investigating authorities are reviewing the price commitment applications submitted by EU exporters and comments submitted by all parties after the preliminary ruling. The investigating authorities will make a final decision on time based on the facts of the case and in accordance with the law and regulations. At the same time, we maintain an open attitude towards resolving economic and trade disputes through dialogue and negotiation.
