OpenAI hires the CEO of Instacart as the Chief Operating Officer, reporting to Sam Altman.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that Instacart CEO and Chairman Fidji Simo will join OpenAI as Chief Executive Officer of Applications and will report to him. Altman stated that he will continue to serve as OpenAI CEO, allowing him to focus more on research, computing, and security. In a letter to employees, Fidji Simo stated that she will be leaving Instacart in the coming months to serve as OpenAI's Chief Executive Officer of Applications, leading product, business, and other company functions. The new CEO of Instacart will be announced soon and will be appointed by existing members of the company's management team.
