American biopharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences announced that it will invest 11 billion US dollars to expand its pharmaceutical and research centers in the United States. The company stated that the additional investment will be on top of the previously announced 21 billion US dollars, mainly for constructing three new buildings and upgrading the existing three factories, as well as introducing more advanced technology. The plan is expected to be completed by 2030. Gilead estimates that the new investment of 11 billion US dollars could create at least 800 new jobs by 2028 and bring 430 billion US dollars in economic benefits to the United States. Following President Trump's proposal to impose tariffs on imported drugs, several major pharmaceutical companies, including Gilead, Johnson & Johnson, and Merck, have announced new investments in the United States.
