Binance founder Zhao Changpeng confirms applying for a pardon from Trump.
Binance founder Zhao Changpeng said on a podcast on Monday that he had formally applied for a pardon from the Trump administration two weeks ago. Zhao said he submitted the application only after news about his pardon-seeking was reported in the media, referring to two articles in March that suggested he hoped to exchange doing business with the Trump family for a pardon. "I thought, if they are writing this article, we can also formally apply," he said. Zhao's decision to seek a pardon is also roughly consistent with the news announced by Trump's son Eric Trump last week, that his family's cryptocurrency company World Freedom Financial has established a joint venture with Binance and UAE venture capital firm MGX.
