The senior officials of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission visited Abu Dhabi and Dubai to promote cooperation on virtual assets.

Dr. Ye Zhi-heng, Executive Director of the Intermediaries Division, and Ms. Wong Lok-yan, Director of the Intermediaries Division and Head of the Financial Technology Group at the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong, met with regulatory agencies and the Web 3 industry in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last week in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to exchange insights and experiences on virtual assets. Dr. Ye had in-depth discussions with senior officials from the UAE Securities Commodities Authority, the Abu Dhabi Global Market Financial Services Regulatory Authority, the Dubai Financial Services Authority, and the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority. The discussions mainly revolved around the continuous evolution of regulatory approaches to virtual asset supervision and experiences from companies operating in this area, aligning with the SFC's goal of promoting pragmatic policy-making under the ASPIRe roadmap.
