AMD reported a first quarter revenue of $7.44 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations of $7.12 billion. Capital expenditures for the first quarter were $2.12 billion, higher than analysts' forecast of $1.726 billion. Research and development expenses for the first quarter were $1.73 billion, slightly higher than analysts' estimate of $1.69 billion. It is expected that the revenue for the second quarter will be around $7.4 billion, plus or minus $3 billion. AMD's stock price fell in after-hours trading.
