African Union-IGAD joint delegation visits South Sudan to discuss recent developments.

On May 5th and 6th local time, a joint AU-IGAD delegation visited South Sudan to discuss the evolving political and security situation, as well as the current status of the peace process, with the South Sudanese authorities and key stakeholders. The delegation was led by AU Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki and IGAD Executive Secretary Mahamoud Ali Youssouf. In a statement released by the AU on May 6th, the African Union Commission and IGAD reiterated their steadfast support for the Government and people of the Republic of South Sudan to continue pursuing peace, national unity, democratic governance, and sustainable development.
