Tesla's sales in Europe have dropped significantly, even as the new Model Y begins to gain traction.
In April, Tesla's sales in the main electric vehicle markets in Europe continued to decline, despite the release of an upgraded version of their most popular model. The British Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Traders reported on Tuesday that the company only registered 512 new cars in the UK last month, a 62% decrease compared to the same period last year. Tesla's sales in Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden saw even larger declines, with some markets dropping by two-thirds. Despite delivering the updated Model Y SUV to customers, Tesla's sales in eight out of the top ten electric vehicle markets in Europe have significantly decreased. Earlier this year, global assembly line adjustments, including in Germany, led to several weeks of lost production for the company, resulting in its worst quarterly sales since 2022.
