Tesla released a video stating that the localization rate of the Model 3 and refreshed Model Y produced at the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory has exceeded 95%, which means that over 95% of the parts on each Model 3 and refreshed Model Y purchased by consumers are made in China. Tesla's Vice President, Tao Lin, later retweeted the video and wrote that domestic consumers can buy the Model 3/Y at the lowest price globally thanks to the "Chinese smart manufacturing" at the Shanghai Gigafactory. "I am very proud to work with over 400 local supply chain partners in China to pursue the best quality, highest efficiency, and optimal cost to create the best products for millions of users in the domestic, Asia-Pacific, and European markets; I am also honored that we have introduced more than 60 of these suppliers into Tesla's global procurement system to help everyone expand onto a broader world stage."
