Today, reporters learned from the Ministry of Commerce that during this year's May Day holiday, the national consumer market is prosperous and active. Sales of cars, home appliances, and mobile phones have grown rapidly, while demand for services such as catering and cultural tourism is strong. In terms of promoting consumption activities, the Ministry of Commerce, together with relevant departments, has organized the 2025 International Consumer Season and the sixth "May 5th Shopping Festival" as well as the seventh "Double Brand Online Shopping Festival" and other activities. All regions are following the overall arrangement of the "Buy in China" campaign, highlighting local characteristics and conducting a diverse range of consumer promotion activities. During the May Day holiday, the Ministry of Commerce monitored 50 pedestrian streets and commercial districts, which saw a 6.4% year-on-year increase in foot traffic, while 36 shopping centers in major cities monitored by relevant platforms experienced a 6.5% year-on-year increase in foot traffic.
