518 provides assistance for Shenzhou communication.
On April 30th, the Shenzhou 19 manned spacecraft successfully landed at the Dongfeng landing site, and the 3 astronauts returned safely. It was learned by reporters that the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Fifth Academy's 518 Institute in Tianjin High-tech Zone undertook the development of two types of antennas for the Shenzhou 19 and Shenzhou 20 missions. One type of antenna, a relay antenna, consists of 4 antennas for both receiving and transmitting signals, located on the exterior wall of the propulsion module. It is mainly used for communication between manned spacecraft, relay satellites, and the ground, and can achieve a wide-angle flat-top beam, widely used in satellite platforms for measurement and control and communication systems. The other type of antenna is for the orbital module, used for global satellite positioning systems, enabling the spacecraft to receive and transmit signals in a certain frequency band.
