The CEO of German chip manufacturing equipment supplier Suss MicroTec said that tariffs could disrupt the semiconductor industry's supply chain, raise costs, and even trigger a recession. Now, the semiconductor industry is facing a severe test from the tariff policy of US President Donald Trump. Although smartphones, computers, memory chips, and other products are currently exempt from tariffs, according to a survey conducted in the semiconductor industry, some exemptions may be revoked in the coming weeks. Suss MicroTec CEO Burkhardt Frick said in an interview, "I believe imposing tariffs and setting up barriers is a step backwards."
