Fueled by the sixth Shanghai "May 5th Shopping Festival", the consumer market in Shanghai saw a comprehensive release of vitality during the 2025 May Day holiday. According to monitoring data from the Consumer Market Big Data Laboratory of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, from April 30 to May 4, the total consumption in Shanghai reached 594.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%. Of this, offline consumption was 331.5 billion yuan, up 13.2% year-on-year; online consumption was 263.1 billion yuan, up 12.9% year-on-year. The total customer traffic in the 35 monitored commercial districts reached 29.93 million, an increase of 12.8% year-on-year.
