Nvidia is in talks to acquire Reflection AI, with negotiations still at an early stage.

Microsoft (MSFT.O) CEO Nadella said enterprises should treat powerful AI models as potential insider threats, assume they may have already been compromised, and build "emergency brake" mechanisms to prevent autonomous agent models from going out of control. In a post on a social platform on Saturday, Nadella said: "We must assume the model has already been compromised and impose constraints on it from the outset. Think of this as an emergency brake. Authorized personnel should always be able to pause or shut down the model while it is executing tasks." Nadella's security recommendations include: do not rely on a single model to make critical decisions; keep tamper-proof records of agent behavior; and subject systems to independent audits. He also called for disclosure of major failures or security vulnerabilities, requiring enterprises to share the causes of incidents and related details so that other companies can strengthen their security protections.

According to the Financial Times, people familiar with the matter said Nvidia (NVDA.O) is in talks to acquire U.S. startup Reflection AI or increase its investment in the company. Reflection AI is a developer of open-weight models. The talks are still at an early stage, and a deal could take various forms, including a so-called "acqui-hire," in which Nvidia hires Reflection's employees and licenses its technology, thereby avoiding the lengthy regulatory review typically required for a full acquisition. Nvidia is already one of Reflection's largest shareholders and may also choose to deepen the relationship through further equity investment or an agreement to provide the company with more chips and computing power. The people familiar with the matter said the two companies could reach an agreement within the next few weeks. Reflection was valued at $25 billion in a funding round in March this year.
