Chen Jining meets with entrepreneur representatives visiting Shanghai to attend the Shanghai Mayor's International Business Leaders' Advisory Council
Today, Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met separately with Robert Speyer, Chairman of the International Business Leaders' Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai and CEO of the U.S.-based Tishman Speyer, who is in Shanghai to attend the 38th International Business Leaders' Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai; Eduardo Bartolomeo, Chairman of the Board of Brazil's Vale; and Roland Busch, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Germany's Siemens AG. Chen Jining welcomed the international business leaders to Shanghai for the meeting and thanked them for their positive contributions to Shanghai's urban development and the successful holding of the advisory council meeting. He said that this year is the opening year of China's "15th Five-Year Plan," and that Shanghai, as a frontier of China's reform and opening up and an international metropolis deeply linked to the world, is accelerating the development of an international center for economy, finance, trade, shipping and scientific and technological innovation, and striving to fully play its leading and demonstrative role in advancing Chinese modernization. Tishman Speyer, Vale and Siemens are global leaders in their respective fields, and their development philosophies and core businesses align with Shanghai's urban functional positioning and industrial development direction. He expressed the hope that they will better seize development opportunities, continue to increase investment and layout in Shanghai, and bring more new businesses, new technologies and new projects to the city.
