Latvian president supports current prime minister in leading the formation of a new government.

Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics announced at a press conference on the 6th that he supports incumbent Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs in leading negotiations to form a new government. According to preliminary vote count results released by Latvia's Central Election Commission, in the 15th parliamentary election held on the 3rd, a total of 6 parties or party alliances received more than 5% of the vote and entered the new parliament. The party alliance "United List" led by Kulbergs received 35.3% of the vote and won 41 seats in Latvia's 100-seat parliament, becoming the largest political force in parliament.
